4th Grade Lyrics

We All Need Peace
(3rd and 4th Grade) with harmonies

We all need love, so we can fill the world with hope.
We all need hope, so we can build a lasting peace.

We all need peace to keep our dreams alive.
We all need peace to make our planet thrive.

We need to sing so that the world can hear our song.
We need a song so that the world can sing along.

Our song will spread its message loud and clear.
Our song will spread to people far and near.

Together we can learn to harmonize.
To bring together different views.
We’ll find a million ways to verbalize
a message strong and right and true.

We all need love (We all need love)
So we can full the world with hope (Fill the world with hope)
We all need hope (We all need hope)
So we can build a lasting peace.

We all need peace to keep our dreams alive.
We all need peace to make our planet thrive,
To make our planet thrive. To keep our dreams alive.

We all need love. We all need hope. We all need peace.

“We Shall Overcome” (4th Grade)

Hum honge kaamyaab
Hum honge kaamyaab
Hum honge kaamyaab ek din
ho ho mann main hai vishwaas, poora hai vishwaas
Hum honge kaamyaab ek din

We’ll walk hand in hand
We’ll walk hand in hand,
We’ll walk hand in hand some day.
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe.
We shall overcome someday.

Hogi shanti charo aur
Hogi shanti charo aur ek din
Ho ho mann main hai vishwaas, poora hai vishwaas
Hogi shanti charo aur ek din

We are not afraid,
We are not afraid,
We are not afraid today.
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe.
We shall overcome someday.

Hum honge kaamyaab
Hum honge kaamyaab
Hum honge kaamyaab ek din
ho ho mann main hai vishwaas, poora hai vishwaas
Hum honge kaamyaab ek din

Here's a link of a youtube video of the song being sung by a 5 year old boy. You can use this to hear the pronunciations and melody. We will be performing the verses as written above.

May There Always be Sunshine
(3rd & 4th Grades)

Narration: Once upon a time in Moscow a little boy painted a picture. It had a round orange sun and lots of blue sky. Underneath it he wrote a poem that went like this:
Poost vseg-da bood-zhet sawn-suh,
(May there always be sunshine),
Poost vse-da bood-zyet knee-eh-buh
(May there always be blue skies.
Poost vseg-da bood-zyet mama
(May there always be mama)
Poost vseg-da boo-doo ya
(May there always be me.)

3rd & 4th May there always be sunshine,
may there always be blue skies,
May there always be Mama,
may there always be me.
Poost vseg-da bood-zhet sawn-suh,
Poost vse-da bood-zyet knee-eh-buh,
Poost vseg-da bood-zyet mama,
Poost vseg-da boo-doo ya

Sun in the sky, birds flying high,
that is the picture you gave me.
While down below, someone I know,
looks up as though he would say:

May there always be sunshine,
may there always be blue skies,
May there always be Mama,
may there always be me.

Poost vseg-da bood-zhet sawn-suh,
Poost vse-da bood-zyet knee-eh-buh,
Poost vseg-da bood-zyet mama,
Poost vseg-da boo-doo ya

There could be sun for everyone,
There could be worlds filled with laughter.
Peace is the dream, how close it seems,
When you take my hand and you say:

We Are The World

Honor Choir:  There comes a time when we heed a certain call,
when the world must come together as one.
There are people dying, and it's time to lend a hand,
to life, the greatest gift of all.
Honor Choir:  We can't go on, pretending day by day,
that someone, somehow will soon make a change.
We are all a part of God's great big family
and the truth, you know love is all we need.

All Student:   We are the world, we are the children,
we are the ones who make a brighter day, so let's start giving.
There's a choice we're making, we're saving our own lives.
It's true we'll make a better day just you and me.

Honor Choir: Well, Send them your heart
So they'll know that someone cares
So their cries for help will not be in vain.
We can't let them suffer, no we cannot turn away,
Right now they need a helping hand.

All Students:  We are the world, we are the children,
we are the ones who make a brighter day, so let's start giving.
There's a choice we're making, we're saving our own lives.
It's true we'll make a better day just you and me.

Honor Choir: When you're down and out, there seems no hope at all,
But if you just believe there's no way we can fall
Well, let us realize, that a change can only come,
When we stand together as one,
All Students:  As one!

All Students: We are the world, we are the children,
we are the ones who make a brighter day, so let's start giving.
There's a choice we're making, we're saving our own lives.
It's true we'll make a better day just you and me.

Rea:               We all need somebody that we can lean on
When you wake up look around and see that your dreams gone
When the earth quakes we'll help you make it through the storm
When the floor breaks a magic carpet to stand on.

Dykes:          We are the world united by a love so strong
When the radio isn't on you can hear the songs
A guided light on the dark road your walking on
A sign post to find the dreams you thought was gone

Azhar:         Someone to help you move the obstacles you stumbled on
Someone to help you rebuild after the rubble's gone
We are the World connected by a common bond
Love the whole planet sing it along

All Students:  We are the world, we are the children,
we are the ones who make a brighter day, so let's start giving.
There's a choice we're making, we're saving our own lives.

                        The children, the children!

4th Grade Program Info

Dear Parents,
We will be having our Eastgate Spring Program on Tuesday, April 4th at 7:00 p.m. Our theme this year is “Singing Around the World - Songs of Peace, Hope and Love”. Students performing for this event are 3rd and 4th Grade, Ukulele Club, and Eastgate Honor Choir.

Students will be singing songs from several different countries for our program and we are working hard on learning all of the words and pronunciations. I am sending home booklets with all of the lyrics for our program. Please help your son or daughter learn the words of these songs. We are working on them in class each week, but singing at home can be very helpful to memorizing the lyrics, not only that, singing with your child is a meaningful way to spend time together and it’s fun!

Please look for the link 4th Grade lyrics for more information regarding our program, including midi recordings and youtube videos that can help assist in practicing for the program.

If you have any questions regarding the upcoming Music Program please don’t hesitate to contact me.

De Colores

De Colores, De Colores se visten
Los campos en la primavera
De Colores , De Colores son los pajaritos
Que vienen de afuera
De Colores, De Colores es el arco
Iris que vemos lucir
y por eso los grandes amores
De muchos colores me gustan a mi
y por eso los grandes amores
De muchos colores me gustan a mi

When the meadows, when the meadows burst forth
In the cool dewy colors of springtime.
When the swallows, when the swallows come winging
In clouds of bright colors from far off.
When the rainbow, when the rainbow spreads ribbons
of colors all over the sky.
They I know why the splendors of true love are great
and their colors, the best ones of all.
They I know why the splendors of true love are great
and their colors, the best ones of all.

We Know The Way

Tot toe o ten-ya-ta foal-low

We read the wind and the sky when the sun is high,
We sail the length of the seas on the ocean breeze.
At night, we name every star
We know where we are.
We know who we are, who we are.

Away, away!
We set a course to find
A brand new island everywhere we roam,
Away, away!
We keep our island in our mind.
And when it’s time to find home,
We know the way.

Away, away!
We are explorers reading every sign
We tell the stories of our elders in a never-ending chain
Away, away!
tef fa new ta maul ee ay

na heh ko hockey le-ay

Away, away!
We are explorers reading every sign
We tell the stories of our elders in a never-ending chain
Away, away!
tef fa new ta maul ee ay

na heh ko hockey le-ay

We know the way!

Basin Street Blues

Won’tcha come along with me,
to the Mississippi.
We’ll take the boat to the land of dreams,
Steam down the river down to New Orleans.

Part 1 The band’s there to meet us,
Part 2 (They’re all there to meet us,)
Part 1 old friends to greet us.
Part 2 (they’re all there to greet us.)
All We’ll see the place where the folks all meet;
Heaven on earth, they call it Basin Street.

Basin Street is the street
where the elite will always meet
In New Orleans, land of dreams,
You'll never know who nice it seems
or just how much it really means.

Glad to be, yes, siree,
where welcome’s free, dear to me,
Where I can lose my Basin Street Blues.

(Solo/solos)
Basin Street is where we’ll always meet.
Ya gotta go there to meet the elite.
Down ’n Orleans; the land of dreams.
You know what I mean.
